Our slat back side chair incorporates design elements from Mission and Ming Dynasty chairs; square stock and a “rising cloud” motif on the lower and upper stretchers as well as on the back curved piece.
The slip seat is upholstered in woven shaker tape with a foam cushion inside for comfort. The herring bone patterned weave on the seat echos and enhances the stepped design of the chair.
We designed our slat back chair as a more formal dining chair, still keeping the elements simple. Around our trestle table, the slat back chairs feel both refined and solid. The slats are 1 1/4” wide and 1/2” thick, strong, yet positioned with enough space between them to be graceful and pleasing to the eye. The seat dimensions can be adjusted to your needs.
